Let me see….

My name is Jumaa Abdullah Mohammed Khoori. I am 20 years old. I am a first year media student in HCT (ADMC).

My life as a child:

I was born in Abu Dhabi, at Al Corniche Hospital. I came to life on 5th August 1988 and it was Friday. My parents decided to name me after that day, i.e. Friday, which is Jumaa in Arabic. I have four brothers and three sisters. My order among my brothers and sisters is the seventh and I am the youngest boy. In addition, I have one stepbrother and four stepsisters who live in Dubai. My father used to work as a supervisor of the guards in Zayed Port and my mother is a housemother. I do not remember much about my childhood, but I do remember is that I used to play in the neighborhood with my two best friends, Abdullah and Bader. We used to play football most of the time. I also remember that I used to go to the beach every Friday with my family where we used to BBQ and have lots of fun. The most unforgettable memory that I can still visualize as if it was just yesterday, is the number of gifts I used to get from my father.

My life as a teenager:

As I grew up things started to change. For example, I had new friends, other than my two best friends Abdulla and Bader. I also had new interests in life as a teenager. My personality started to be shaped to the person I turned to be today.

My trips abroad:

I traveled with my family to Egypt, Cairo in particular, more than 5 times. I also went with some friends to Oman two times as well as Bahrain for shopping with my sister. I would love to travel to European countries, Australia, USA, and other Asian Countries.

My interests:

I have lots of interests and hobbies. Mostly, I am interested in diving (I have an open water diving license), drawing (I learnt how to draw from my brother and sister who I consider them as best teachers for me), swimming, horse riding (I used to ride in the Royal Guards), cooking, making handmade stuff and I also love graphic design (cards, files and gifts…etc).

Something has influenced me:

The major turn in my life was made by a book that my sister has given me. That self-improvement book changed the way I think and it taught me how to deal with the life tricky moments with logic and wisdom. Added to that, I became a bookworm after reading that book.

My favorite books:
• 101 things to do before you die.
• 101 things to do before you’re old and boring.
• 101 things you need to know and some you don’t.
• 101 things you wish you’d invented and some you wish no one had.
• Eat pray love.
• It’s not how good you are, it’s how good you want to be.
• They f*** you up, how to survive family life.
• What not to say.
• Why men can only do one thing at a time and women never stop talking.

In the future:

I would like to be a professional photographer and a graphic designer. I also aim to start my own business in the same field, i.e. photography and graphic design.

Drugs in the UAE.

284 cases related to drugs were registered in Abu Dhabi last year. Drugs are most common between teenagers and young people on their early twenties. This essay will discuss the problems and the solutions of drugs.

Using drugs could lead to several serious problems. One problem is that using drugs keep the person out of his mind. For example, the addicts are often unconscious about what is going around them and they cannot act normally. Another problem is, drugs can lead to crimes. People under the influence of the drug do not know what are they doing and for the smallest silly reasons they can create big problems or fight and those problems could end with a murder of someone. Yet another problem is that cigarettes are also considered as a drug. When someone is smoking, he doesn’t know that cigarettes harm his body and the other’s near to him.

The solutions are various, but they are hard to be done. The first solution is rehabilitation. The government in the UAE put the drug addicts in jail, but if they decided by their own to enter the rehab to be cured, the government will excuse them and will not put them in jail. Another solution is PSA’s. The government must put Public Service Announcements for the people to make them aware of the disadvantages of using drugs. The last solution is that the awareness that comes from the family side. Families must be warn their children’s about the effects of drugs and how it affect their lives.
In conclusion, drugs are a serious problem in the UAE that must be considered. Also, we should warn our children to be careful in choosing friends and we, as parents must know their friends.

Why Emiratis students drop out school

Many students do not complete their studies in the UAE. About 40% of students leave school for various reasons. This essay will give the problems and the solution of dropping out schools.

The problems vary from one student to another. The first reason is most common in girls, they get married or engaged. The girls think that they do not have to complete their studies because the husband will take care of everything. Another problem is having a job. Workers think that is there is no reason to complete their studies because they have what they were looking for which is money. Yet another problem is having learning problems. Teachers never change their ways of teaching. They keep filling up student’s minds with information and do the same for the whole year without changing the way of study or even changing the studying environment.

There are various solutions to be considered. One solution is to make the learning materials more interesting. One way to do that is to change the old style of studying. For example, reduce the amount of books and make online courses. Another solution, there must be a supervision from the family side. The parents must motivate and encourage their children to study and complete their higher studies too. Yet another solution is to give sponsorships for students. A good way to encourage students to complete their studies is to sponsor them while they are in the college or university.

To conclude, dropping out school is not a good solution for any problem. We all must complete our studies and if we get good qualifications, we should be looking forward to something better.

Problems and solutions of divorce.

The number of divorced people in is increasing in the UAE. Divorces have a great impact on the family members. This essay will discuss the problems and solutions of divorce.

There are several of problems that leads to divorce and it changes from one marriage to another. First, it affects the children’s life in many different ways. For example, when a child notes that there is no supervision from the father or the mother, he could do anything wrong because there is no one to lead him to the right way. Another problem is that some people in the UAE especially men do not like to marry a divorced woman. They think that the women have been divorced for a bad reason. Yet another problem is the lack of care for the children. A child needs care from both the father and the mother.

Although there are several problems, there is also many different solutions to avoid being divorced. One solution is that the wife and the husband must solve their problems by themselves. They do not need to create a big fight or problem for the small silly things. Another solution is that if they have a problem, they should ask someone. They should ask their parents because they have enough experience of the problems of marriage. Moreover, if the problem go’s too bad, they can see a counselor. The counselor has many different ways to solve those particular problems in a professional way.

In conclusion, in my opinion, the marriage life should base on love and if they faced problems, they should solve the problems between them quietly. If every couple did that, they would live a good life with each other.
